San Jacinto Day is a day of remembrance for those who fought for Texas’ independence. April 21, 1836 was the final day of the Texas Revolution and where Texas won it’s independence from Mexico.

State offices are closed on this day and there is ‘partial staffing’ in place.

A reenactment is performed every year on the site. The Sabine Volunteers, named for an actual militia group who fought during the Texas Revolution, performs. The group of four reenact the battle and have even appeared on the History Channel.
