Cobblers first appeared in the United States in the nineteenth century with settlers from England arrived. They brought over a recipe for suet pudding but because they didn’t have the same equipment here they adopted the recipe by putting uncooked dumplings or biscuts on top.
For a long time cobblers were not desserts to serve in the prescence of company but it changed over the years.
